Job Overview We are seeking a Distribution Designer to work in Denver, CO on the MYR Master Design Build contract. The role is a contractor position in a temp‑to‑perm format, with the possibility of becoming a direct Leidos employee in approximately 6 months from the initial hire date.

As a Distribution Designer, you will provide distribution design engineering for overhead and underground feeders across the client’s distribution footprint. Work may include joint‑use make‑ready, street‑light projects, and other utility projects. You will develop construction work packages for the electric distribution system using GIS, CAD, WMS, and other client systems.

Responsibilities

Develop work packages for overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable/conduit.

Perform field visits and field engineering of project requirements.

Identify conflicting utilities and conduct engineering and design calculations.

Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices.

Post‑construction reviews.

Prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitate permit and Right‑of‑Way acquisition, develop a BOM, estimate costs, and support customer advocacy.

Required Education & Experience

2‑year technical degree or H.S. diploma with less than 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with STORMS, Katapult, ESRI, AutoCAD, PDS, and GIS.

Familiarity with Pole Loading software (DDS, O‑Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, LD Field).

Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with 3rd‑party make‑ready design with electric utility distribution design.

Experience developing civil & electrical packages for 3rd‑party carriers.

Ability to read and interpret client‑supplied documents and standards.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.

Strong understanding of mathematics.

Pay Range $35,100.00 – $63,450.00 (general guideline only; actual compensation may vary).
