Position Summary The Logistics Specialist (Auto Repair Parts) provides critical repair parts and supply chain support to NSW maintenance operations. This position researches repair parts, service procedures, and tooling requirements to support automotive, heavy truck, construction, and maritime maintenance. The specialist manages local storerooms, ensures accuracy of parts identification and availability, and coordinates closely with mechanics and Government purchase card representatives to support efficient maintenance execution.
Duties And Responsibilities
Research repair parts, service procedures, and tool requirements
Obtain and document vendor quotes for repairs and parts
Maintain storeroom with common service items
Track high/low inventory limits and usage trends
Support equipment maintenance logistics and shop cleanliness
Conduct market research for parts and present findings to GPC representatives
Use Government vehicles for approved parts research and pickup
Coordinate with mechanics to ensure correct parts availability
Ensure 95% order accuracy for repair parts
Required Qualifications
U.S. citizenship required
Ability to obtain installation access credentials
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Valid U.S. driver’s license
Minimum 4 years' experience as a mechanic or repair parts clerk
Experience supporting automotive, heavy truck, and construction equipment
Experience using manufacturer repair manuals and electronic parts databases
Strong inventory management and organizational skills
ASE P1 (Heavy Truck) or ASE P2 (Automotive) certification OR prior employment in a role where repair parts ordering was the primary responsibility
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compliance with safety, hazmat, and conduct requirements
Compliance with drugfree workforce standards
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Standing, walking, bending in shop and storeroom environments
Work in office, storeroom, and maintenance areas
Occasional exposure to shop noise and equipment
Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
