Overview
A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Assistant to support its Real Estate practice in the Chicago office. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys supporting attorneys on complex commercial real estate transactions. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and a strong commitment to client service.
Key Responsibilities Edit, format, and proofread documents in Microsoft Word and Excel, including applying styles and headings Coordinate new matter intake and conflict checks Process daily time entry for attorneys Assist with matter administration and client billing, including reviewing and editing pre-bills and ensuring compliance with client guidelines Support attorneys with commercial real estate closings Prepare closing binders and manage post-closing follow-ups Create and edit PowerPoint presentations Maintain strict confidentiality of firm and client information Manage attorney calendars, travel, meetings, and expense reimbursements
Qualifications 3–5 years of legal administrative experience in a real estate environment, including exposure to real estate closings Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, iManage, and Aderant Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines High attention to detail and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset Experience with institutional investors and commercial real estate transactions preferred Familiarity with legal and real estate terminology preferred High school diploma required; additional education or certifications are a plus
