SUMMARY Main responsibilities include obtaining consignments of Asian art and oversight of the Asian Art Department. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Source quality consignments from private collectors, estates, dealers, and retailers Establish estimates and negotiate client terms Oversee research, authentication, and assist with condition reports Proofread catalog descriptions and assist with assets for marketing materials Participate in the expansion of client database Market-specific consignments to valued clients Assist with client services as necessary Review settlements and wires Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 7+ years of experience in Asian Art preferably with a major auction house Some categories covered include snuff bottles, Jade & Hardstone, Porcelain & Pottery, Metalwork & Cloisonne, Furniture, Scholar’s Objects & Textiles, Painting and Caligraphy, Himalayan, Indian & Southeast Asian Art, and Japanese Art Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Word and Excel Ability to multitask and pay great attention to detail Must have a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills Public speaking talents are a plus!
