Email Marketing Strategist
Location : This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
In this role, you will be responsible for the strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of WoodmenLife’s marketing email and CRM‑driven lifecycle programs to nurture, engage, and retain our audiences. This cross‑functional role collaborates with Creative, Advertising, Data, Communications, and other business partners to create broadcast and automated email campaigns for our target audiences, while maintaining accuracy, exceptional deliverability, data privacy compliance (CAN‑SPAM and internal policies), and measurement standards. Success in the role is measured by the ability to positively impact channel growth, quality engagement, conversion outcomes, list health, and revenue influence.

Responsibilities
Defines and owns the marketing email and CRM strategies aligned to organizational goals, focusing on customer lifecycle (welcome, onboarding, nurture, cross‑sell/up‑sell, renewal/retention, re‑engagement, and win‑back)
Manages daily activities of the email, mobile, and other digital marketing channels, including personalized scalable content and campaign calendars, email deployment, testing, analytics, and reporting
Builds and manages automated email and SMS journeys that support engagement and conversion goals with clear entry/exit criteria, suppression rules, audience eligibility, and tracking and measurement
Develops and executes personalized email and mobile strategies that leveraged data, segmentation, and behavioral insights to drive engagement and conversion
Works with multiple internal teams and vendors to orchestrate cross‑channel journeys that drive cohesive experiences and strategic initiatives
Uses measurement and analytics to continually test and optimize the email program, including list growth, open rate, conversions, inbox placement, complaint/bounce rates, and subscriber lifetime value
Works with data teams to update, clean, and maintain marketing email databases and proactively remediate list‑hygiene issues
Participates in departmental and organizational discussions and meetings to determine email growth and direction; builds and socializes dashboards and readouts that quantify performance against goals and surface insights by segment, journey, and campaign
Serves as primary contact with email service provider
Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with the expectations established by your supervisor and WoodmenLife policy
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Marketing, Advertising, or Communications preferred)
5+ years of direct executional email/CRM experience with a major ESP (i.e. HubSpot, Constant Contact, or Mailchimp)
Strong analytical skills, understanding of testing practices, proficiency leveraging channel dashboards, and ability to draw conclusions and take action
Prior database management experience and fluency in segmentation, dynamic content, and lifecycle automation to improve performance
Working knowledge of email deliverability (authentication, sender reputation, inbox placement) and data privacy compliance (CAN‑SPAM, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, CASL)
Strong project management, attention to detail, and time‑management skills
Ability to engage with others and demonstrate passion for providing an exemplary customer experience
Ability to craft effective prompts for AI systems to optimize outputs and improve efficiency in task execution
Familiarity with AI‑powered productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) and ability to leverage them for workflow automation and decision support
Understanding of ethical AI principles, data privacy considerations, and compliance standards to ensure responsible use of AI technologies
Ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service
