
Customs Trade Specialist

Responsibilities
Coordinate the documentation required by US Customs and Government Agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers. Provide impeccable customer service. Process specialized commodities to reduce penalties through proper classification and duty preference. Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from databases, SOPs, tariff books, the internet, or customs. Perform data entry and processing of import‑related documentation for submission to US Customs, including handling all PGA’s. Maintain and keep documentation current in compliance with record‑keeping requirements. Adhere to international importing and exporting regulations. Work closely with internal staff, other FedEx opcos, customers, and government agencies to deliver high levels of service. Process agency brokerage shipments, handle remote filings, perform entry reconciliations and reviews, follow up on Customs matters to resolve problems, ensure all policies are followed, and perform other duties as assigned. Paid training is provided.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 12 months of industry experience preferred; minimum 6 months of work experience required.
Data entry/keyboard experience required.
Working knowledge of MS Office and email applications such as Outlook, including multiple screens and windows.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to handle high volume and time‑sensitive work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials.
Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.
Preferred Qualifications and Work Schedule
Work schedule Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Hybrid only; candidates must live within a 50‑mile radius of Anchorage, Alaska.
Mandatory overtime may be required during periods of high volume; work on company‑recognized holidays may also be necessary.
Pay $16.60 – $26.34 per hour.
