Requirements of the role We are looking for a Ombudsman Sponsorship Executive for 12 months to be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%.

The Ombudsman Sponsorship team sits within the Strategy, Policy and Reform directorate and is responsible for the strategic oversight of the Rail Ombudsman and holding the service provider to account for delivery of the service. Reporting to the Ombudsman Sponsorship Manager, you will work across all aspects of the team’s activities, with the opportunity to contribute to special projects, as required, within the wider Strategy, Policy and Reform directorate. The post-holder will gain experience in areas including project management and planning, contract management, procurement, regulatory compliance monitoring, policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

Working with senior colleagues to monitor the ombudsman service provider’s progress against the contract delivery plan, produce regular updates, and generate management information as required

Maintaining ombudsman sponsorship monitoring tools and resources, including the programme schedule, risk registers, issues log and change control protocols

Serving as the initial point of contact for industry or stakeholder ombudsman enquiries and engagement, handling, prioritising, and directing them as needed; additionally, overseeing the daily operations of the Ombudsman and Consumer inboxes and secure sites

Providing support to projects across the SPR directorate, such as conducting regulatory compliance checks and audits, evidence gathering to support policy development, data analysis, supporting procurement and research activity, etc;

Managing the organisation of meetings, ensuring coordination of agenda, documentation, action logs, minutes and follow up of actions.
