About Strategy Risks Strategy Risks is a China-focused business intelligence firm providing geopolitical, political, and strategic risk analysis to senior decision-makers across finance, corporates, and government. We help clients anticipate and navigate complex global risks through rigorous research, clear analysis, and actionable insights.
The Role We are seeking an experienced Research Director to oversee and grow our research team and research products. This is a senior leadership role for a proven expert who combines deep subject‑matter knowledge with strong managerial and editorial judgment, the ability to manage and mentor analysts, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build and manage client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and oversee Strategy Risks’ research agenda across geopolitical, political, and strategic risk themes
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, researchers, and contractors
Edit, quality‑control, and occasionally research and write reports, briefings, and client deliverables
Work closely with senior leadership to align research with client needs and commercial strategy
Support client engagements, including briefings, presentations, and calls with senior stakeholders
Required Experience & Qualifications
Significant experience (typically 8–12+ years) in political risk, media, geopolitics, intelligence, or strategic analysis
Strong track record of managing research teams and complex analytical projects
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to non‑technical audiences
Deep expertise in China, geopolitics, economics, and global affairs
Experience working with senior clients or decision‑makers
Chinese fluency is a plus, but not required
