Job Summary
The School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an Event Manager to join the Dean's Office Signature Events team, supporting the planning and execution of more than 40 events each year. These events span annual celebrations honoring learners, faculty, and staff; innovative schoolwide gatherings that strengthen community; and meetings, presentations, town halls, and Q&A sessions that advance our mission of creating "Healthy People, Healthy Communities." They play an essential role in building connection, celebrating achievement, and fostering shared purpose across the school.
Responsibilities
Coordinate logistics and day‑of execution for major school events.
Manage the advance planning of events, including scheduling, venue selection, and coordination of catering, AV services, decor, creative assets, livestreaming, and other event‑specific needs.
Supervise a talented student events team and oversee their training, performance, and development.
Establish and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure event objectives are met.
Implement new or revised unit operational policies and procedures related to event management.
Monitor the event budget and approve expenditures.
Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, approving hours worked, and managing conduct and performance of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.
Collaborate with campus units and external vendors to arrange all event logistics and associated services.
Qualifications
2 years of experience providing event support.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success supervising student employees or mentoring students.
Demonstrated success running hybrid events.
Education Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Employment Details Regular employment within the School of Medicine and Public Health, Dean’s Office, Signature Events.
This position may require in‑person work on campus; some activities may be performed remotely at an off‑site, non‑campus location.
Must provide a valid driver’s license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Employment is conditional pending the results of a Pre‑hire Driver Authorization Check.
Compensation and Benefits The starting salary for the position is $65,000 annually, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
