Organization Overview Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC) is a nonprofit organization working with the City of Philadelphia to revitalize the tidal Schuylkill River corridor from the Fairmount Dam to the Delaware River, an area known as Schuylkill Banks. The centerpiece of this effort is the construction, programming, and maintenance of a continuous eight‑mile riverfront trail and greenway with associated access points and amenities along the Banks. SRDC envisions the continued transformation of Schuylkill Banks into a premier riverfront destination that connects diverse neighborhoods, provides safe recreation and alternative transportation, and improves the natural environment.
Position Overview The Marketing and Community Relations Manager enhances and develops SRDC’s presence in the community. Through a coordinated plan, the Manager will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and community at large through the creation and distribution of a variety of marketing materials. This position will develop and manage community relations, public participation, and public outreach programs responsive to local stakeholder needs and aligned with the overall objectives of SRDC. The Manager will represent SRDC at community events, conduct community assessments and provide feedback voiced by stakeholders, and provide tours and presentations of Schuylkill Banks projects. This position reports to the Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Position Responsibilities Marketing and communications responsibilities include management of the Schuylkill Banks website, social media accounts, monthly e‑newsletter, Google Ads, and swag inventory; creation of print and digital marketing materials, signage, reports, and presentations; and assistance with fundraising campaigns and donor relations. Community relations responsibilities include community programs management; representation at community events/meetings; assistance with routine operational and maintenance tasks as needed; and assistance with volunteer programs needed. As part of the SRDC team, all employees are expected to participate in and/or work on the organization’s overall program and activities. This may require that employees work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is the nature of the work that SRDC does and is considered an integral part of all SRDC duty statements. As such it is included as part of the agreed‑upon compensation.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Exceptional analytical and creative problem‑solving skills
Organized and process‑oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, independently, and efficiently with numerous deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders and community members
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products
Experience with social media platforms and website maintenance
Experience in community outreach, programming, and customer service
Interest in and commitment to SRDC’s mission
Minimum of three years of progressive experience in communications, public outreach, and community relations preferably in the nonprofit sector
