Job Summary Position Summary: The Territory Business Development Manager will drive sales growth, build strategic partnerships, and deliver technology solutions within an assigned territory. This results-driven sales professional will have experience in business development, account management, and relationship building.

About the Role As a key member of Connection, you’ll work side by side with specialists from industry-leading tech manufacturers, helping schools, government agencies, and businesses solve IT challenges through hardware, software, and cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a territory sales plan to achieve revenue goals for assigned territories (Virginia – Fairfax County and GovMVMT; DC, Maryland, Delaware).

Build and maintain strong relationships with customer accounts, manufacturers, and contract counterparts; collaborate with inside account managers through regular communication.

Client engagement: conduct a minimum of 10 site visits per week; present and promote Connection’s National Solution Provider (NSP) capabilities; prepare proposals and deliver impactful sales presentations; assist with bid responses and represent the company at industry trade shows.

Market development: conduct market research to identify new clients and growth opportunities; negotiate contracts and close deals within the territory.

Collaboration: partner with marketing and product development teams to align offerings with client needs; work closely with manufacturer field reps for strategic account planning.

Administrative duties: complete daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting; submit calendar and pipeline updates weekly; prepare quarterly business reviews and customized presentations.

Travel >50% of the time.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree with 2–4 years of experience in sales, business development, or technology solutions.

Skills & Competencies:

Technical aptitude for learning new IT solutions; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong negotiation skills; excellent written and verbal communication; highly organized with planning and prioritization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work independently and meet sales targets; proven track record of building client relationships and driving territory growth; prior experience in education and/or state & local government sales.
