Qualifications
Preference for an individual who holds or is eligible to obtain an Administrative Specialist license through the Ohio State Board of Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Education or Sports Management or equivalent experience in Administration
Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent organization skills
Working knowledge of OHSAA rules and procedures and strong knowledge of athletics
Ability to communicate easily with a wide range of people and coordinate budgets of athletic teams and booster clubs
Demonstrate expertise in desktop publications, scheduling programs, photography, website development and multi‑media productions
Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, drug screen, etc.
Documentation of a clear criminal record
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing the coordinating, promoting, planning and organizing of all athletic activities in the District
Ensure safety of students.
Coordinate all interscholastic athletics.
Schedule all sporting events.
Responsible for contracting sports officials.
Arrange and schedule athletic transportation.
Attend athletic contests both home and away as coordinated with the school principal.
Notify coaches of ineligible students.
Purchase all supplies and equipment for the athletic department.
Responsible for all workers at athletic contests.
Responsible forticket sales.
Maintain current inventories of all equipment and supplies on hand.
Develop and implement rules and regulations governing the athletic activities.
Ensure that coaches receive an athletic handbook prior to each sports season.
Meet with coaches prior to the sports season to review rules and regulations.
Observe head coaches engaged in an athletic activity during the season.
Supervise coaches in cooperation with the school principal.
Arrange for timers, scorekeepers, ticket personnel, and administrative personnel involved in the total operation of athletic events.
Ensure that spectator facilities are ready for all contests.
Ensure that student athletes receive physical examinations prior to the beginning of their respective athletic season.
Issue purchase orders on approved purchase requisitions.
Maintain an up-to-date budget account for each sport.
Maintain a complete record of the results and scores of athletic contests.
Maintain a record file of all award winners.
Organize and supervise an awards night in conjunction with the coaches.
Attend staff, league, and local council meetings and in‑service as required.
Devise, implement, and engage in athletic program fundraising activities.
Implement and enforce student athletic program rules, regulations, and policies.
Prepare written reports when required.
Interact with the public in an official capacity regarding the athletic program.
Coordinate, administer, and maintain a file of game contracts with coaches.
Procure concession services and schedule use of gymnasium and other outside athletic facilities for games.
Discipline student athletes when necessary.
Devise and implement quality standards for the athletic program.
Coordinate and ensure photographic coverage of athletic events and distribute passes to authorized individuals.
Coordinate activities in conjunction with the athletic boosters.
Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy.
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student files.
Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.
Attend meetings and in‑services as required.
Supervise the handling, collection, and record keeping of parental approval forms, physical examination forms, athletic insurance forms, permission forms, and requests for facility‑use forms.
Ensure an appropriate availability of an insurance program for the athletic department.
Attend league organization meetings and scheduled drawings.
Maintain files of applications, background checks, certification, and immunization on potential coaches.
Submit to principals a recommendation for the hiring of coaches with all pertinent employment information.
Evaluate coaches, with input from the principal (if A.D. has an administrative license).
Arrange for any meals provided by the athletic department.
Counsel, advise, and encourage student athletes.
Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner.
Serve as a role model for students conducting themselves as citizens and as a responsible, intelligent human being.
Instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
Order all awards upon recommendation of the head coach of each sport.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.

Evening / weekend work
May occasionally be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Must follow all safety guidelines for blood borne pathogens.
Must occasionally climb steps.
Must occasionally lift items weighing 40 lbs.
Must occasionally plug in and unplug equipment.
Must occasionally interact with unruly children and / or irate adults.
Evaluation
Performance of this position will be evaluated by a district administrator in compliance with LU‑T Board Policy.
