Special Loans & Products at Valon Valon’s Special Loans & Products Team is responsible for managing core business processes for SCRA-protected loans, recasts, successor in interest, and partial release requests. We are a team of creative individuals who approach servicing challenges with an innovative mindset. Our goal is to help homeowners resolve special servicing needs while providing a first‑class experience with Valon, all from behind the scenes.

About The Role As a Special Loans & Products Specialist, you will support the execution of a wide range of mortgage servicing requests tied to non‑standard and specialty loan scenarios. This role focuses on processing and reviewing transactions such as loan ARM Loans, SCRA benefits, successor in interest (SII) requests, Transfer to LLC & Estates, and Mortgage Amendments (Partial Release). The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of mortgage servicing and is eager to develop expertise in specialty loan processes. You will work under guidance to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies while contributing to a positive homeowner experience.

Responsibilities

Process Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) requests by reviewing documentation, validating eligibility, and applying applicable loan adjustments.

Assist in handling loan recast requests, including reviewing borrower eligibility and supporting payment recalculations.

Review successor in interest (SII) documentation and support the setup and maintenance of SII records in accordance with CFPB guidelines.

Assist with ARM rate change processes by ensuring timely updates, recalculations, and borrower notifications.

Review and update loan records for ownership changes, including transfers into trusts or entities.

Evaluate and process partial release requests in accordance with established guidelines and documentation requirements.

Perform post‑boarding reviews and corrections for specialty loans to ensure data accuracy in servicing systems.

Partner with internal teams such as customer service, legal, and loan origination to support the timely resolution of special servicing requests.

Maintain accurate, complete, and audit‑ready documentation for all transactions.

Follow established processes and elevate complex or exception scenarios to senior team members.

Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance team efficiency and accuracy.

Communicate with homeowners via inbound and outbound calls and emails regarding loan status and documentation needs.

Stay informed on servicing guidelines and regulatory requirements related to special loan products.

Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Background

1–2 years of mortgage servicing experience or related financial services experience.

Basic knowledge of mortgage servicing processes, loan documentation, and terminology.

Exposure to special products such as SCRA, ARM Loans, Partial Releases, SII, or recasts is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to follow processes and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Developing analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Familiarity with mortgage servicing guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA) preferred.

Ability to accurately review documentation and ensure compliance with established processes.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workload in a fast‑paced environment.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and interact with borrowers.

Willingness to learn and grow within specialty servicing operations.

Ability to elevate complex issues appropriately and seek guidance when needed.

Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
