Position Summary
Responsible for owning and elevating product documentation across both new product development (NPD) and existing product lines. Establish documentation standards, processes, and systems that scale with the business. Create clear, professional, and customer-focused manuals and technical documents that improve installation, operation, and service outcomes. Primary Responsibilities
Core Documentation Development
Create and maintain operation manuals, installation guides, and service & maintenance manuals
Develop clear, step-by-step procedures for technicians and end users
Translate engineering designs into practical instructions
New Product Development (NPD)
Partner with engineering to build documentation alongside product design
Ensure complete documentation at product launch
Update documentation based on ECOs, field feedback, and customer issues
Improve clarity and reduce service burden
Customer-Focused Content Design
Create workflows, troubleshooting guides, and visuals
Enable first-time-right installations and efficient service
Documentation Standards & Process Ownership
Establish formatting, tone, and structure standards
Develop templates and manage revision control
Prioritize based on impact and roadmap
Build internal knowledge base
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical writing for hardware, industrial, or medical devices.

Service and maintenance documentation
Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments, preferably supporting new product development (NPD).
Experience managing documentation through product lifecycle changes (ECOs, revisions, sustaining updates).
Experience creating visual aids (diagrams, annotated images, workflows) to enhance understanding.
Skills & Attributes
Ability to translate complex technical systems into clear, structured, and actionable instructions.
Strong focus on end-user experience, particularly for field technicians and customers.
Excellent written communication with attention to detail, consistency, and clarity.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
Process-oriented mindset with a focus on standardization, scalability, and continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of documentation systems and outcomes.
Comfortable collaborating directly with engineers, service teams, and subject matter experts.
Proactive problem-solver who identifies documentation gaps and drives improvements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
