Position Summary
The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation. This role focuses on Operation Manuals, Service Manuals, Kit Instructions, bulletins, and related technical publications in both print and electronic formats. The Technical Writer works closely with engineering, service, marketing, and manufacturing teams to ensure technical content is accurate, clear, timely, and compliant with documentation standards Key Responsibilities Develop, write, revise, and edit
operation manuals, service manuals, kit instructions, and technical bulletins Analyze new products, engineering changes, and design updates
to determine documentation requirements Attend product design and review meetings to gather technical information Collaborate crossfunctionally with
Engineering, Service, Marketing, Manufacturing, and external suppliers Interpret and apply engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), schematics, and manufacturing documentation Use publishing and illustration tools to create documentation that adheres to established templates and style guidelines Upload documentation into Windchill
and create
Change Notices (CNs)
to release content Review change notices and determine required documentation updates Coordinate proofreading and ensure final documents meet quality, style, and schedule expectations Develop clear instructions for
accessory and service kits Maintain accurate version control and document lifecycle management Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree
with
2+ years of technical writing experience , OR
8 years of relevant experience, OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience Strong ability to read and interpret
mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical data Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hagerstown, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
