
Tax Analyst

Prepare Reddy Ice sales and use tax records and business licenses in compliance with the state and local statutes, and assist the Tax Director and Transaction Tax Manager with day-to-day maintenance of the tax department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for all locations using Vertex Return software. Perform monthly updates and maintain software database. Perform reconciliations and resolve differences. Assist in the maintenance of the Vertex system for tax exemption certificates for both current and new customers. Use independent judgement to validate customer tax exempt status and approve ticket corrections if required while interacting with customers in a professional manner. Assist Transaction Tax Manager in gathering necessary information for state sales and use tax audits; make recommendations to reduce any tax assessments. Prepare general journal entries for monthly fuel tax refunds, property tax, sales tax, and other general ledger accounts as requested. Prepare and maintain the Company’s annual business and food licenses for applicable jurisdictions, including research and determination of any compliance risks. Prepare annual reports with applicable Secretary of State agencies. Assist in maintaining annual property tax worksheets that track all ad valorem tax payments by type and location. Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for the sales & use tax and fuels tax balance sheet accounts. Research new sales and use tax legislation and questions posed by senior management and field employees; recommend proper accounting or tax treatment. Take and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management. Adhering to the Code of Business Ethics is essential. This position has a direct effect on the company’s financial records through the preparation of monthly journal entries. Accuracy and completeness are critical to the proper classification and reporting of financial transactions. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPERTY, FUNDS, AND INFORMATION
Has access to customer records, vendor records, distributor agreements, pricing information, contractual agreements, accounting and financial information, and other confidential information. May have access to company funds or assets. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
None – this is an individual contributor role EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years of sales and use tax experience is required with four or more years preferred. Vertex software experience preferred. An affinity for daily transaction detail and a passion for getting it right. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills including the MS Office suite and accounting systems. Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least 9 hours of accounting credit. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical office environment, generally sedentary position using computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment. This position works in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing work environment. The ability to manage stress, and to build professional and collaborative relationships is essential. No travel is required.
