Overview
The American Indigenous Tourism Association (AIT) is excited to announce an outstanding career opportunity for the position of Field Training & Support Specialist. In this role, you will provide essential support and coordination for AIT’s Education programming efforts under a program launched in partnership with AIT and the United States Forest Service (USFS) to support Native Nations and communities to advance healthy forest goals through federal funding opportunities, as well as partnerships to support the launch and training of The Original Original Accreditation program in the United States.

Job Description This role collaborates closely with the Community Navigator Project Team and Education and Business Development Team to play a pivotal role in supporting AIT's Community Navigator programming and The Original Original program accreditation efforts. This multifaceted position involves supporting initiatives that build capacity for increased access and sustainable participation in federal funding opportunities with a wide variety of new and existing Forest Service programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians engaged in cultural and recreational tourism programming and initiatives on and adjacent to Native lands. The role will also provide educational support for AIT's broader tourism development initiatives, including emerging quality certification programs.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and execute educational activities; contribute to program, curriculum, and training development.
Support active engagement of tribes, tribal businesses, and members in AIT's Community Navigator project and broader training opportunities.
Develop training programs with emphasis on in-person workshops, hands-on training sessions, and direct support to community navigators in the field.
Collaborate with various AIT program areas to support Community Navigator programming and develop educational materials for tourism quality certification initiatives.
Contribute to the organization’s mission and the success of the Community Navigator Program.
Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Education or closely related field
Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in education encompassing curriculum/training design and implementation with emphasis on in-person facilitation and community-based learning
Proficiency in Microsoft products
Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Flexibility in schedule to accommodate training and travel
Strong work ethic, initiative, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Basic understanding and respect for tribal customs, traditions, values, and beliefs
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience and knowledge in navigating and securing federal funding
Experience working with Native Nations, tribal organizations, or Indigenous communities
Experience or familiarity with certification programs, quality assurance standards, or tourism industry best practices
Knowledge of federal agency partnerships and collaborative programming
Knowledge or experience in developing educational materials for diverse audiences
Background in natural resource management, conservation, or environmental education
Experience providing direct technical assistance and one-on-one coaching to program participants
Salary $55,000 - $70,000 , depending on experience. AIT offers a competitive benefit package.
