Founding Account Executive (Path to Director/VP of Sales)


Location: Midwest / Great Lakes preferred (Chicagoland ideal)

Compensation: $200,000–$240,000 OTE, uncapped commission, plus a 6-month ramp guarantee

Reports to: Founder & Managing Director

Travel: Approximately 25%

Fastway Engineering is a specialized engineering simulation firm helping product development teams move faster, reduce R&D cost, and make better decisions through virtual testing, consulting, training, and software solutions. Focused on the ANSYS portfolio, we partner with engineering and manufacturing organizations ranging from innovative startups to global enterprises.


We’re a small, founder-led company with real momentum — and this is a foundational commercial hire.


We’re looking for a high-performing Founding Account Executive who can win business now and grow into sales leadership over time. You’ll work directly with the Founder and technical team to build pipeline, run consultative sales cycles, grow strategic accounts, and help shape the commercial engine as Fastway scales.


This is not a ‘maintain the territory’ role. It’s a chance to build something meaningful, make a visible impact, and earn the opportunity to lead.


What You’ll Do

·        Build pipeline through outbound prospecting, partner alignment, referrals, and targeted account development

·        Sell simulation software, consulting, and training solutions into engineering, product development, and manufacturing organizations

·        Own full-cycle opportunities from discovery through close

·        Partner closely with the Founder and Application Engineer on demos, evaluations, technical sales strategy, and commercial negotiations

·        Expand existing accounts and uncover new use cases across software and services

·        Help shape the sales process, discipline, and playbook as the business grows


What We’re Looking For

·        5+ years of success in B2B technical software or complex solution sales

·        Proven ability to self-source pipeline and close new business

·        Experience managing full-cycle sales opportunities

·        Strong communication skills with both technical and executive stakeholders

·        A builder mentality — comfortable in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment with high ownership and limited bureaucracy

·        Ambition and capability to grow into a future sales leadership role


Strongly Preferred

·        Experience in CAD, CAE, simulation, PLM, engineering software, or adjacent industrial technology

·        Experience selling into engineering, manufacturing, product development, or R&D organizations

·        Comfort partnering with technical experts such as application engineers or solution consultants

·        Familiarity with consultative sales approaches such as MEDDICC, Challenger, SPIN, or similar
