Job Description Assistant to the Director of Technology
works collaboratively to create the best technology experience for instruction and district operations. The applicant should demonstrate an aptitude for troubleshooting technical problems and proficiency in following instructions. Knowledge of basic computer repair and networking is a plus.
Responsibilities include training employees, planning, addressing, and resolving problems. This position is a 260‑day contract with 20 days vacation and benefits. Standard work week Monday to Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm; weekends may be considered based on workload/projects. Compensation is based on education and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Technical Support
Deploy, configure, and maintain district technology assets as authorized by the Director of Technology.
Provide troubleshooting for all hardware, software, and network incidents by independently researching solutions and collaborating with colleagues to resolve problems quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
Monitor and report on service‑request tracking system status, identify workload trends and problems.
Maintain current knowledge of district systems, policies, procedures, and best practices.
Interact with computing systems and guide staff on security best practices.
Conduct training sessions for certificated staff to integrate technology into the instructional program.
Keep informed of recent technology trends; engage in self‑guided and district‑provided training opportunities.
Maintain proper certifications to service district technology assets and adhere to district and business partner guidelines.
Generate reports to assist decision‑making by supervisors.
Service Requests
Resolve service requests from the ticket‑tracking system in priority order while maintaining customer service and performance objectives.
Provide user training or support to reduce repeat incidents, and follow up to ensure service‑request resolution.
Identify recurring incidents and recommend problem resolution to supervisors.
Maintain a good working relationship with district employees.
Knowledge Management
Refer to the department knowledge base when researching solutions to incidents and problems.
Research solutions using external resources.
Contribute solutions to recurring incidents in the knowledge base.
Create documentation for staff professional development purposes.
Mentor and train supplemental and seasonal staff.
Asset Management
Inventory all hardware and software using automated tools and manual audits.
Request materials and parts required for repairs.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two‑year certificate from college or technical school or two or more years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to staff, students, and administrators.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers, or members of the school community.
Ability to communicate complex technical topics to people of many knowledge levels, in groups and individually.
Ability to facilitate group discussions.
Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Demonstrates initiative and works independently and collaboratively in groups.
Good problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Demonstrates proficiency in basic troubleshooting techniques.
Manages projects and coordinates interdependencies between tasks.
Prioritizes tasks received.
Can maintain composure under stressful conditions.
Can develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Speaks clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
Can drive to district locations to service equipment as required.

Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, talk or hear, and use hands and arms. Frequently required to walk, sit, handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Seasonal demands may be higher. Work environment is usually moderate noise, primarily indoors with occasional outdoor work. The description is for ADA compliance and is not exhaustive; additional duties may be performed.
