Technical Writer - Tyler Coach Programmer
The Technical Writer creates technical documentation and information about Tyler software products, services, policies and procedures. The Technical Writer is ultimately responsible for producing accurate content and ensuring delivery that meets the established guidelines and completes on time while upholding Tyler’s quality standards.

Responsibilities

Research, write, gather, organize, and edit content that can be repurposed for product information, online help, training materials, e‑learning components, support content, proposals, policies/procedures and other knowledge assets.

Work with department members to plan and schedule projects and coordinate with other staff to ensure consistent and accurate information.

Gather user feedback and enhance software usability by selecting appropriate content and media for the target audience.

Produce content that conforms to established guidelines and best practices.

Proofread and copy‑edit content for proper grammar, punctuation and style guidelines.

Test content for accuracy and usability.

Assist in improving and documenting departmental processes and the style guide.

Participate in cross‑department teams focused on product improvement such as sprint planning and demo sessions with the Software Engineering team.

Maintain a knowledge base of accurate and approved content.

Update internal documentation resources as assigned by the Manager.

Perform other job‑related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Demonstrate the ability to multitask, produce quality work, and meet deadlines.

Demonstrate the ability to research and write content and learn department software.

Demonstrate ability to collaborate with others within the company and apply department styles and industry standards.

Follow department standards and communicate effectively within and outside the department.

Demonstrate the ability to work independently and contribute to team efforts, including cross‑department collaboration.

Show flexibility to adapt to a changing environment and quickly learn new concepts and software systems.

Make decisions based on established guidelines, analyze and refine departmental processes.

Write content clearly and accurately with strong audience orientation.

Complete tasks with some direction from the Manager or other department members.

Demonstrate proficient knowledge of technical writing concepts and technologies from formal training and experience.

Demonstrate knowledge of the technical/business environment and supported business processes.

Exhibit excellent partnering, communication, and negotiation skills to gather business requirements and coordinate with other departments for project success.

Work effectively in a customer‑service‑team oriented environment.

Document and communicate assigned work and progress to the project team and management.

Qualifications

BS/BA degree in English, Technical Writing, Communication, Journalism, or a related field.

Minimum of two years of experience in the field or a related area.

Preferably one year of experience producing online help systems or other web‑based content.

Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred, or two years of Tyler software experience.

Working knowledge and understanding of Agile development.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask with strict deadlines.

Strong written and verbal English language skills (grammar, syntax, usage, and style).

Ability to write technical content clearly and accurately.

Experience with advanced word processing (e.g., Microsoft Office), online help authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare), and web applications.

Experience with development project management software such as Jira.

State‑Specific Salary Range Disclosure Requirements
Salary will generally fall between $52,260 - $65,000 before adjustment for geographic differences. Recruiter can confirm if the position is incentive eligible.
