Weekend Assignment Editor

Position Overview Weekend Assignment Editor for WGHP FOX8, a leading station in the Top 50 Greensboro-High Point-Winston-Salem market. Responsibilities Lead assignment editor for elections coverage, coordinating primary and general election coverage for nearly 100 races. Collaborate with News Director and Assistant News Director in daily story meetings to supply a comprehensive list of story pitches for reporter packages and photojournalist coverage. Develop sources across wire services, government agencies and community groups to plan coverage for daily newscasts and long-term projects. Build relationships with photojournalists, reporters, producers and anchors to expedite coverage decisions in both daily and breaking news situations. Coordinate logistics for news personnel inside and outside the newsroom. Assist in development, planning and follow-up for news stories, focusing on court dockets and court files for crime and other legal beats.
