About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic
National Safety Director
to lead and elevate safety performance across multiple operating companies. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, aligning safety initiatives with business objectives, and partnering with executive leadership to reduce risk and improve operational excellence. You’ll play a key role in shaping company-wide safety strategy, influencing leadership, and ensuring compliance across all regulatory environments.
Key Responsibilities: Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement a
proactive, enterprise-wide safety culture Establish and track
safety KPIs, goals, and performance metrics Analyze
leading indicators, incident trends, and risk exposures , and implement data-driven solutions Lead and mentor subsidiary Safety Leaders to ensure consistency and accountability across all locations Oversee investigations of
incidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses , identifying root causes and preventive actions Develop and implement
training programs and certification pathways
for key operational roles Ensure compliance with
OSHA, DOT, EPA , and all federal, state, and local regulations Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update policies and procedures Partner with insurance carriers and risk teams to address claims and mitigation strategies Develop and maintain
Emergency Action Plans
across all entities Foster a culture of
psychological safety , encouraging reporting of near misses and safety concerns Lead
change management initiatives
related to safety programs and cultural integration Collaborate with industry groups and regulatory agencies to stay ahead of evolving standards
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred 10+ years of progressive
safety and risk management experience , including team leadership Experience in
construction and/or commercial environments
strongly preferred Proven ability to influence at the executive level and across diverse teams Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and leadership capabilities Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This role operates in both office and field environments, including active construction sites. Responsibilities may include: Standing, walking, climbing, and inspecting job sites Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and industrial environments Working around moving equipment, mechanical parts, and airborne particles This is a
safety-sensitive position
requiring a high level of focus and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Schedule & Travel: Standard schedule: Monday–Friday Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed Travel required (primarily regional, with occasional overnight travel)
