Job Summary:
The Power BI Lead Consultant is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the Microsoft Power BI platform, providing technical leadership, advanced (L3) support, and delivery of enhancements. The role spans data modeling, report/dashboard development, performance optimization, security, governance, and stakeholder management, ensuring scalable and reliable analytics solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Design and develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and KPIs Diagnose and resolve report refresh failures, performance bottlenecks, and data issues Monitor dataset refresh schedules, gateways, and capacity usage Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive improvements Manage Power BI workspaces, access provisioning, and license models Implement governance standards for naming, certification, and promotion Ensure compliance with enterprise security and audit requirements Collaborate with ETL and Data Engineering teams for end-to-end data pipelines Deliver minor enhancements and configuration changes Drive self-service BI adoption through standards, training, and best practices Evaluate and onboard new Power BI features and capabilities Work closely with business users, product owners, and data teams Participate in CAB, release planning, and design reviews Translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions Required Technical Skills
Microsoft Power BI (Service, Desktop, Report Builder) Power BI security, RLS, and workspace governance SQL and relational database concepts Power BI capacity and gateway management Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Certifications:
The Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) is highly recommended. Soft Skills:
Excellent communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and strong problem-solving abilities
