HR Generalist / Consultant
Location: Kernersville, North Carolina
Type: 12-16 week contract (temporary maternity coverage) with potential for temp-to-hire
Compensation: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite (Kernersville, NC) – Remote work is not available
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
HR Generalist / Consultant Key Responsibilities:
Reports into HR leadership and supports a field-based workforce of flaggers and operations staff. This is a hands‑on HR/Recruiting/Administrative role requiring the ability to work independently with minimal training.
Manage high‑volume recruiting efforts, including sourcing, screening, and scheduling candidates for interviews.
Conduct phone screens and initial candidate evaluations to support hiring managers.
Coordinate and execute onboarding processes, including I‑9s, E‑Verify, and new hire documentation.
Support employee relations matters as needed, including basic issue resolution and documentation.
Perform data entry and maintain accurate employee records in compliance with company and legal requirements.
Assist with timekeeping and payroll support for hourly field employees.
Track employee certifications, training, and compliance requirements.
Provide general administrative support to field supervisors and office leadership.
Maintain organized HR documentation and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
HR Generalist / Consultant Required Qualifications:
2–3+ years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support roles.
Strong experience with high‑volume sourcing and candidate screening.
Hands‑on experience with onboarding and I‑9 processing.
Ability to work independently with little to no training or ramp‑up time.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
HR Generalist / Consultant Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
Experience supporting field‑based or hourly workforces.
Experience in construction, transportation, or similar industries.
Exposure to payroll or certified payroll processes.
HR certification (PHR) a plus.
