
Purchasing Specialist

Manpower in Huntington, WV is seeking a Purchasing Specialist for a client in the tri-state area.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure raw materials, with a focus on steel products (plate, sheet, structural, etc.)
Manage the full purchase order lifecycle from creation through delivery
Expedite orders to ensure on‑time delivery and resolve delays proactively
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times
Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning/production teams
Track shipments and coordinate logistics to ensure smooth material flow
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Requirements
Proven experience as a
Material Purchaser, Buyer, or Procurement Specialist
Hands‑on
expediting experience
in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Prior experience in the
steel or metals industry
strongly preferred
Strong understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management
Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
