Mericle Construction, Inc. is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent. This role supports company construction and operational needs by sourcing materials, equipment, and services at the best overall value. It manages competitive bids, negotiates pricing and terms, issues purchase orders, and ensures timely delivery of goods while maintaining strong supplier relationships. A zero‑based budgeting mindset and strong analytical skills are essential.
Mericle Construction, Inc. is the largest full‑service developer of industrial, office, flex, and medical space along Pennsylvania's I‑81 Corridor, having developed more than 100 buildings in the Scranton/Pittston/Wilkes‑Barre/Hazleton area.
Responsibilities
Source and procure materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracted services.
Support category spend strategies and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
Manage RFP/RFQ processes, analyze bids, and negotiate pricing and terms.
Create and maintain purchase orders and procurement documentation.
Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure on‑time delivery and resolve issues.
Maintain approved supplier lists and monitor vendor performance.
Verify invoices against POs/receipts and resolve discrepancies.
Collaborate with Warehouse/Shop teams on inventory checks and replenishment.
Support reporting, cost tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
3‑5 years of purchasing/procurement experience (construction preferred).
Experience with RFQs/RFPs, supplier negotiations, and ERP systems (Sage 300/Timberline a plus).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Knowledge of supply‑chain fundamentals, materials planning, and logistics.
