Salary Range: (Hiring range depending on qualifications, not anticipated to exceed $10,300 - $12,300 per month)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

Department The Office of Central Development within the Division of University Advancement is dedicated to increasing community engagement and contributions by working collaboratively with the campus community. A strong foundation of supporters is essential to enhancing academic innovation, empowering students, transforming campus structures, and enriching the community.

Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Central Development, the Senior Director provides overall leadership and success of the Advancement Services Department staff, overseeing operational and infrastructural planning related to staffing and resources for Gift Administration, Advancement Database, and Prospect Management. The role includes high‑level oversight, recommendations, and strategic support of gift accounting, recording, receipt, and preparation of fundraising and engagement reporting functions; policy development; compliance reporting to senior leadership; and resource recommendations for staff, consultants, hardware, and software. The Senior Director works with the AVP and other leaders to determine best practices, update procedures, and ensure data and records integrity across the division.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.

Four to five years of direct experience in administration of fundraising, sales, or database environments with supervisory management experience.

Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the ability to understand CASE reporting standards, IRS regulations, and other governing policies at local, state, and federal levels.

Ability to manage staff at a high level and direct projects and operations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Fundraising knowledge and specific experience with a fundraising database/CRM such as Blackbaud RE/NXT.

High skill level in computer programs including Excel, Word, Access, and project‑management software.

Ability to work at annual commencement ceremonies and travel to off‑campus locations for events, programs, meetings, and other activities as directed.

Additional Responsibilities & Compliance The position includes filing an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700 within thirty (30) days of hire and annually thereafter, completing CSU-sponsored ethics online training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and annually thereafter. The holder is a limited mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, requiring CSA training.
