Purpose of the Role Provide overall direction and project‑management leadership for large, complex pipeline construction activities, ensuring safe, on‑schedule delivery within or below budget and in full alignment with contractual obligations.
Core Responsibilities
Leading construction strategy, planning, and execution for global pipeline projects, including capital programs exceeding $1 B in value
Directing delivery in remote, cold‑weather, and Arctic environments where logistics, seasonal constraints, and environmental sensitivity are critical
Managing construction execution through project leads and managers, providing clear direction while empowering teams to deliver results
Establishing and overseeing long‑range plans, schedules, and budgets to meet or exceed contractual commitments
Ensuring all activities comply with safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, and right‑of‑way requirements across multiple jurisdictions
Serving as senior construction authority for technical, commercial, and execution decisions with long‑term impact
Partnering closely with clients to align execution strategies with business objectives, permitting constraints, and stakeholder expectations
Collaborating with regional and location leadership on matters that materially influence project performance and business results
Developing and implementing strategic construction programs, policies, and improvement initiatives specific to large‑scale delivery
Driving continuous improvement in construction systems, processes, and tools for extreme climate execution
Leading with a participative management style that promotes accountability, collaboration, and strong field‑to‑office integration
Key Qualifications and Capabilities
A university degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
Typically 20+ years of progressive construction and project‑management experience, with a strong focus on pipeline projects
Demonstrated leadership on large global pipeline projects, including billion‑dollar capital programs
Significant experience delivering pipelines in Arctic or extreme cold‑weather environments, including remote logistics and seasonal execution planning
Broad knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, commercial management, and business operations
Ability to visualize, develop, and implement new construction concepts and strategies for complex pipeline systems
Proven capability to manage multiple complex projects through others while maintaining alignment and accountability
A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style that balances decisiveness with inclusion
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex strategies to senior leaders and clients
Expert understanding of construction systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to mentor teams and elevate organizational capability
