LOCATION: BANGOR OR PRESQUE ISLE
REPORTS TO: MANAGER, CREDIT & COLLECTIONS
POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT, NON-BARGAINING UNIT, FULL TIME

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Credit and Collections Analyst supports the utility’s financial health by analyzing customer credit risk, monitoring account receivables, and executing collection strategies. This role involves evaluating customer payment behavior and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies. The analyst works closely with customer service, billing, and legal teams to resolve account issues and improve collections performance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze customer credit data and payment history to assess risk.
Monitor aging reports and identify delinquent accounts for follow-up or escalation.
Assist in developing and implementing collection strategies to reduce bad debt and improve cash flow.
Prepare KPI reports and dashboards on credit exposure, collections performance, and trends including annual preparation of credit and collection reports filed with the PUC.
Maintain accurate records of credit and deposit evaluations, payment arrangements, and collection activities.
Ensure compliance with Public Utilities Commission (PUC) regulations and consumer protection laws.
Participate in audits and provide documentation as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with Storm/System Restoration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably credit analysis or collections in a utility or regulated industry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or CIS systems (e.g., SAP, Cayenta, Oracle Utilities).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Knowledge of credit laws, utility billing practices, and customer assistance programs.
NOTES:
Position is primarily stationary, with some walking, standing, and driving required.
Irregular hours may be required at times.
A valid Maine driver’s license is required.
RATE OF PAY:
Salary Level is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
