Introduction
Rock County, Wisconsin (pop. 160,420) is seeking applicants for the position of Information Technology Director. Rock County is located in South Central Wisconsin along the Illinois border. Janesville, Wisconsin (pop. 63,588) is the county seat. Janesville is located on the I39/90 corridor forty miles south of Madison, seventy‑six miles west of Milwaukee and about two hours from Chicago.
Position Summary
Rock County is seeking an experienced Information Technology Director to oversee all County‑wide IT functions including public safety communications, network operations, telecommunications, programming, user support and the help desk. The IT Director will be responsible for developing network maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets, managing the IT staff and keeping leadership up to date on the latest networking technologies. The IT Director will ensure the security and integrity of County data and information technology assets.
Salary Information
Salary range is $137,196.80–$149,448.00 annually, salary is negotiable.

Physical performing elements
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for periods of time.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds, occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Equipment use
- Ability to use a computer and computer keyboard.
- Valid unrestricted driver's license. Work is indoors.
- Able to pass an FBI CJIS security background check.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have worked in the IT field for a minimum of 7–10 years, with 5 years supervisory experience. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred.
