Tax Managing Director

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Tax Managing Director to lead and grow our tax strategy for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. This is a leadership role where you’ll combine hands‑on tax expertise with strategic planning, working closely with advisors, clients, and external tax partners.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead overall tax strategy across planning, compliance, and external partnerships
  • Build and improve tax processes and workflows
  • Manage relationships with outside tax firms
  • Review individual, trust, and business tax returns for accuracy and compliance
  • Provide guidance on business tax strategies (S‑corps, partnerships, pass‑through entities)
  • Support business exit planning (sales, liquidity events, tax deferral strategies)
  • Advise on state and local tax matters
  • Partner with wealth advisors to identify tax‑saving opportunities
  • Join client meetings to explain strategies and provide expert guidance
  • Support estate, gift, and philanthropic planning
  • Help improve systems and technology used for tax work
  • Stay updated on tax law changes and share insights with the team
  • Mentor and help grow a team of tax professionals

What We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of tax experience (public accounting, wealth management, or family office)
  • Active CPA required (CFA, JD, LLM, MST, or CFP is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of individual, business, estate, and gift tax planning
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and advising high-net-worth clients
  • Ability to explain complex tax topics in a simple, client‑friendly way
  • Comfortable working with tax software and new technologies
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Passion for client service, teamwork, and mentoring others
