Job Description Summary
The Inorganic Growth Strategy & M&A Origination Leader is responsible for shaping and driving the upstream inorganic growth agenda for the Electrification segment. This role defines where and how the business should pursue acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnerships to accelerate growth aligned with Electrification’s long term segment strategy.
The role owns the front end of the M&A lifecycle, from strategic gap identification and gameboard development through proactive target identification, early engagement, and strategic fit assessment. The leader works in close partnership with Segment & Business Line Strategy, Corporate Business Development, and GE Vernova Ventures to ensure the pipeline of inorganic opportunities is intentional, differentiated, and value driven.
The role acts as the single threaded leader for:
Translating segment strategy into clear inorganic growth priorities
Proactive target development and relationship building
Early strategic rationale, synergy hypothesis, and go forward recommendations
The role may be performed from a major GEV site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inorganic Growth Strategy & Gameboard Development Objective:
Define where inorganic growth should play to support long‑term segment strategy.
Lead development and continuous refinement of the Electrification inorganic growth gameboard
Identify strategic gaps and opportunities across:
Product and technology capabilities
Geographic coverage
Vertical integration
Adjacent and emerging growth spaces
Partner with business line strategy teams to ensure alignment between organic roadmaps and inorganic priorities
Define clear investment theses and “right‑to‑win” logic for priority focus areas

Build / Buy / Partner recommendations
2. Target Identification & Early Relationship Development Objective:
Build a differentiated, proactive pipeline of potential targets and partners.
Partner with Corporate BD to identify potential acquisition, minority investment, and partnership targets well ahead of formal processes
Lead development of outreach strategies tailored to founders, owners, and leadership teams
Establish and nurture senior‑level relationships to position Electrification as a partner of choice
Assess early indicators of strategic fit, scalability, and cultural alignment

Proactive target universe and long‑list development
Relationship maps and engagement strategies
Early target assessment summaries
3. Strategic Fit Assessment & Pre‑Deal Value Thesis Objective:
Ensure only strategically compelling opportunities advance into formal M&A processes.
Partner with Corporate BD, Finance, and Strategy to validate strategic fit and adjacency logic
Identify preliminary synergy and value creation opportunities
Pressure‑test strategic assumptions and risks
Support internal decision‑making with clear, structured recommendations
Define initial value creation hypotheses to inform diligence and integration planning
Provide informed input into Go / No‑Go decisions prior to transaction launch
Actively support in Due Diligence process incorporating lessons learned
Key Deliverables
Strategic fit assessments and opportunity briefs

Business due diligence readouts and risk assessments
Leadership recommendation materials
4. Due Diligence Leadership & Strategic Validation Objective:
Ensure strategic intent, value thesis, and risk perspective are rigorously validated during diligence to enable high‑quality investment decisions.
Serve as the segment strategy lead during due diligence, in close partnership with Corporate BD, Finance, and the Integration & Value Creation leader
Validate and refine strategic fit, adjacency logic, and long‑term relevance of the target
Pressure‑test key assumptions underlying market growth and competitive positioning, technology differentiation, roadmap alignment, commercial scalability and customer access
Ensure diligence findings translate into clear Go / No‑Go recommendations, well‑defined integration priorities, explicit assumptions and risks to be tracked post‑close, and structured input to Investment Committee and executive leadership discussions

5. Enterprise Collaboration & Handoff to Integration Objective:
Ensure seamless transition from strategy to execution.

Contribute to continuous improvement of inorganic growth governance and processes

6. Ventures & Minority Investment Collaboration Objective:
Leverage early‑stage investing and partnerships to support long‑term capability development.

Determine when venture or minority investments can accelerate access to critical technologies, de‑risk future acquisitions, support longer‑term growth options, and ensure alignment with broader segment inorganic strategy

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge/experience.
Extensive experience in strategy, business development, M&A, or related leadership roles (knowledge level comparable to 15+ years of experience).
Proven experience in proactive, thesis‑driven M&A or partnership development.
Deep industry experience in Electrification, Electrical Power Grids, and Electro‑Intensive industries.
Experience working in complex, matrixed global organizations.
Ability to translate strategy into actionable inorganic priorities.
Financial and business acumen sufficient to shape early value theses.
