We are looking for a strategic yet hands‑on
Director of Data Governance
to build and lead an enterprise‑wide data governance program.
This role is ideal for someone who can design the framework, establish the standards, and work across the organization to turn data into a trusted strategic asset. The right person will be equally comfortable shaping governance strategy and rolling up their sleeves to implement the policies, processes, and tools that make it work.
What You’ll Do
Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational goals, AI readiness, and regulatory requirements
Establish governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes that strengthen data integrity, access, and compliance
Lead enterprise‑wide efforts around data stewardship, data quality, and lifecycle management
Select and implement governance tools and platforms such as data cataloging, stewardship, and lineage solutions
Define and operationalize data stewardship models across the organization
Oversee data quality initiatives, including monitoring, remediation, KPI development, and reporting
Partner with IT, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to align governance with technology and regulatory needs
Build awareness and training programs to strengthen adoption of data governance best practices
Measure governance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on data governance and data management priorities
What We’re Looking For
7+ years of leadership experience in data governance, data management, or related areas
Strong understanding of governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices
Proven ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders and drive change
Experience with enterprise policy development, writing, and implementation
Strong project management and execution skills
Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship‑building abilities
Preferred Background
Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Business Administration, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field
Experience operationalizing governance frameworks and leading data quality initiatives
Familiarity with data governance platforms, data warehousing, and ETL processes
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Knowledge of systems such as SIS, LMS, and CRM platforms
Understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and database technologies
Hours: 40 Hours per week
Term: 12 Months +
Location: Greater St. Louis Area
Workplace type: 3 Days in Office / Hybrid
