Architectural Sales Representative
Novax Recruitment Group, New York, NY, United States
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Sales Representative to lead front‑end architectural engagement in the New York City market. This role is focused on architect-driven lead generation, targeting firms working on multi‑family and large-scale residential projects.
This is a non‑quota‑carrying position that plays a critical early and mid‑stage role in the sales process—building relationships with architects, supporting specification writing and product design, and working closely with the internal sales team through bidding and technical review stages.
The role is hybrid, designed for a self‑directed professional who can manage their own diary effectively without the expectation of being on the road five days a week.
Key Responsibilities
Build, manage, and grow relationships with architects, specifiers, and design professionals involved in multi‑family and mixed‑use developments across NYC.
Act as the primary architectural contact at the early project stage.
Identify new project opportunities and generate qualified architectural leads, passing them to the internal sales team once projects move to procurement.
Specification & Design Support
Work directly with architects to:
Write and secure project specifications
Provide product selection and system design support
Advise on performance requirements, code compliance, and constructability
Ensure the company is included as a named or preferred manufacturer in specifications where possible.
Collaborate closely with the internal sales team to support:
Bid strategies
Technical clarifications
Pre‑bid and post‑bid questions
Assist the sales team with technical reviews, drawings, and reading/compliance of specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Technical & Product Expertise
Provide technical guidance on window and door systems, assisting with:
Product comparisons and alternates
Required Experience & Qualifications Must‑Haves
Proven experience in architectural sales, specification sales, or technical sales support
Strong background in window and door systems, specifically: Aluminum, PVC, Vinyl / uPVC systems
Demonstrated experience working with architects on multi‑family or large‑scale residential projects
Solid understanding of construction documents, specifications, and bid processes
Ability to read, interpret, and support technical drawings and performance documentation
Nice-to‑Haves
Experience working in or with the New York City construction market
Familiarity with local codes, standards, and approval processes
Experience supporting projects from concept/design through bid stage
Performance & Incentives
This role does not carry a traditional financial sales target
Performance is measured and rewarded based on clearly defined KPIs, such as: Number of qualified architectural leads generated, Specifications written and secured, Level of architectural engagement, Quality of collaboration with the sales team
Hybrid position with flexibility to manage your own calendar
No expectation of daily field travel; site visits and meetings scheduled as needed
Ideal for a self‑motivated, organized professional who can balance architectural outreach with internal collaboration
Why Join?
Work with a well‑established manufacturer with a strong product portfolio
Play a strategic, front‑end role influencing projects early in their life cycle
Collaborative environment with clear separation between architectural development and closing sales
Flexibility and autonomy paired with clear expectations and recognition
