Job Summary This position is the primary field customer relations resource for residential and commercial customers in an assigned territory. The geographic territory assignment typically includes 40,000 to 60,000 accounts, depending on customer density and other parameters. Incumbents in this position demonstrate willingness to learn and build relationships while working under close supervision and guidance. The role requires reactive response to customer and public inquiries as well as proactive promotion of company marketing programs, products, and information.

Responsibilities

Financial Responsibility:

Understand rates and tariffs to provide billing options, provide tariff analysis, assist in additional revenue and growth opportunities, monitor customer delinquencies, prepare billing corrections, and maintain accurate reporting records.

Technical Expertise:

Possess entry‑level knowledge of the distribution electrical system, provide service reliability and power quality explanations to assigned customers, and gain familiarity with meter technologies and applications.

Energy Management:

Assist customers with effective and economical use of electric energy, promote energy management tariffs, meet with assigned customers to promote products and initiatives that support the company’s strategic goals, coordinate with energy‑efficiency program managers and contractors, attend trainings, and participate in marketing opportunities at trade shows and community events.

Customer Relationship Management:

Build skills to serve as the company point of contact for customers, including larger accounts and municipalities, balance customer and company needs, practice a customer‑experience mindset, engage in community involvement, and primarily serve residential and small commercial customers.

Problem Solving and Initiative:

Develop problem‑solving skills, coordinate concerns between customers and internal departments, investigate, resolve, and document customer issues, maintain compliance with utility commission guidelines, analyze high‑bill complaints, guide customers toward energy‑efficient solutions, and assist other departments and engineering with new service requirements.

Communication Skills:

Present a professional appearance, communicate effectively orally and in writing, exhibit documentation skills, be familiar with Microsoft Word, and demonstrate ability to give oral presentations and facilitate projects.

Qualifications Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Engineering, Management, Human Relations, or Marketing with no specified working experience.

Associate degree in a related field with a minimum of three years of customer‑contact experience and knowledge of field activities related to the technical aspects of customer services and distribution operations.

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of customer‑contact experience and knowledge of field activities related to the technical aspects of customer services and distribution operations.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

Current driver’s license.

Other Requirements:

Physical demand level is Sedentary.

Working knowledge of field activities related to the technical aspects of customer services and electrical distribution operations and construction.

Strong communication and problem‑solving skills and ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships internally and externally.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Willingness to perform on‑site investigations in various terrain and weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits Salary ranges for the role are:

Customer Services Account Rep Associate (GR04): $52,488.00 – $65,610.00.

Customer Services Account Rep Associate (GR04) (alternate range): $54,063.00 – $67,579.00.

Customer Services Account Representative (GR05): $61,647.00 – $77,057.00.

Customer Services Account Representative (GR05) (alternate range): $63,496.00 – $79,369.00.

Compensation Range: $54,063.00 – $79,369.00.

The physical demand level for this job is S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, walking, standing for brief periods, and required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 10 pounds occasionally.
