Overview
As FirstPointe expands its network and invests in the growth of its Texas office, the firm is seeking a dynamic leader to help strengthen its market presence and deepen client partnerships in the region. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of property tax expertise, client growth, and business development. The Manager will lead complex real estate property tax appeal strategies while serving as a trusted advisor to clients, driving revenue opportunities, and helping position the firm as a go-to leader in property tax consulting. This role calls for a strong mix of technical depth, relationship leadership, and entrepreneurial energy to support both client success and the continued expansion of the business.
Key Responsibilities Property Tax Appeal Strategy & Execution
Develop and lead comprehensive property tax appeal strategies for complex commercial real estate portfolios across Dallas jurisdictions, with assistance to Florida in the off season.
Analyze property valuations, assessment methodologies, market data, and income/expense information to identify appeal opportunities.
Oversee preparation and presentation of property tax appeals before county appraisal districts, Appraisal Review Board (ARB), special magistrates, and other taxing authorities.
Conduct appeal hearings, negotiations, and settlement discussions to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
Ensure compliance with Dallas property tax laws, deadlines, filing requirements, and procedural standards.
Case Negotiation & Presentation
Serve as lead negotiator on income-producing, retail, office, industrial, multifamily, and special-use properties.
Serve as a technical expert for valuation and appeal strategy, property tax statutes, deadlines, filing requirements and jurisdictional differences.
Prepare and review written appeal submissions, valuation analyses, property tax forecast reports, and supporting documentation.
Present valuation arguments clearly and persuasively to taxing authorities and decision-makers.
Account & Client Management
Manage and grow a portfolio of key client accounts, serving as the primary point of contact.
Build long-term client relationships by providing strategic advice, clear communication, and consistent results.
Deliver regular reporting, valuation insights, and performance updates to clients.
Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within existing accounts.
Lead, mentor, and develop analysts, senior analysts, lead analysts, and administrative professionals within the property tax practice.
Assign and oversee workloads to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely completion of appeals.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
Develop and deliver training programs on valuation methodologies, appeal procedures, negotiation strategies, and best practices.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture aligned with firm values.
Business Development & Firm Growth
Support and lead business development initiatives, including prospect meetings, proposal development, and client presentations.
Leverage industry relationships to generate new business opportunities.
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives for the property tax consulting practice.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
Minimum
6–8 years
of experience in property tax consulting, real estate valuation, or assessment appeals, with significant Texas market experience.
Demonstrated expertise in Texas property tax law, valuation methods (income, cost, and sales comparison), and appeal processes.
Proven experience leading appeal hearings and negotiating settlements.
Prior management or supervisory experience demonstrated success in mentoring and developing staff.
Strong client-facing and relationship management experience.
Active professional designations such as CMI, MAI, CFA, CPA, CCIM, ASA, or similar are preferred.
Advanced valuation and analytical skills for income-producing real estate.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills.
Strategic thinking with the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional portfolios.
Leadership and team-building capabilities.
Business development mindset with a client-service focus.
High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines.
