Supported Housing Specialist

Overview The Supported Housing Specialist is responsible for implementing a Permanent Supportive Housing program to support eligible adults with a serious and persistent mental illness by collaborating with local housing authorities, other social service agencies, and property owners/landlords to develop and provide stable, affordable, and long-term independent housing opportunities through short and long-term subsidies such as Section-8 vouchers or other types of permanent housing. Works with a caseload of clients who reside in Strafford County who receive the Bridge's subsidy. These individuals may or may not be receiving mental health services from community partners.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and implement a Permanent Supportive Housing program to secure stable, affordable, and long-term housing options for eligible adults with serious and persistent mental illness.

Collaborate with local housing authorities, social service agencies, and property owners/landlords to develop housing opportunities and subsidies (e.g., Section-8 or similar programs).

Manage a caseload of clients residing in Strafford County who receive the Bridge's subsidy, with attention to individuals who may or may not receive other mental health services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in the social sciences or human services field.

One year of experience working with special needs populations; experience can be substituted for formal education.

Ability to work flexible hours to provide on-call support and respond to after-hours concerns and emergencies.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to utilize technology provided to perform job requirements.

Valid driver’s license, proof of adequate automobile liability insurance, and reliable transportation required.
