Your Opportunity The role of a Civil Designer or EIT is to work independently and as a team member on a wide range of exciting projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. Projects include commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal work across the state of New Mexico and within Arizona and Texas as needed.
A Civil Designer or EIT will perform a variety of tasks which may include analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits, and construction documents. The projects that a Civil Designer/EIT may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform and assist with all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control.
Prepare complete submission packages, supporting calculations, quantity and cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.
Assist project manager / project engineer with consultant and project team coordination.
Perform planning activities, including project research, assessment of project feasibility.
Utilize CAD in development of three‑dimensional models of civil systems.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
Assist in the development of new standards and processes for the civil group.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience in land development, utility, and roadway design.
Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self‑starter who can work independently and with a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Knowledge and experience with local agency and industry applicable codes.
General understanding of project document production.
Strong knowledge of civil systems and industry standards.
Ability to effectively discuss project issues with a multi‑disciplinary team and clients with varied knowledge of the development process.
Possesses excellent time‑management skills.
Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Education and Experience
Civil Designer – Minimum of 5 years’ experience with AutoCAD and development plan design.
EIT - Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree, Engineer in Training Certification, and CAD experience.
A local project resume and experience strongly preferred. Experience in site and roadway, drainage, grading, erosion and sediment control, and utility design is considered an asset.

Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
