Job Overview A Paralegal is responsible for coordinating with Attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of the immigration process, mastery of multiple case types, and regular client interaction. This position offers career‑pathing opportunities and growth into Senior Paralegal or other roles.

Responsibilities

Lead email and phone client communications under the direction of a Senior Paralegal or Attorney.

Provide guidance to assignees regarding proprietary systems and case processing.

Understand client communication procedures and requirements.

Input client services rendered and forward them to Accounting for processing.

Maintain competence in case types previously handled and consistently broaden knowledge base; demonstrate increasing independence in case handling.

Process advanced and varied corporate immigration cases.

Evaluate cases, relay concerns, and proactively escalade to appropriate BAL team members.

Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review; adapt tools and resources when templates are insufficient; expand knowledge of BAL best practices.

Manage status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review.

Utilize document and data‑management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework per BAL policy.

Prepare internal caseload reports for management.

Share process flow with assignees; identify problematic cases and discuss strategies and/or solutions with Attorney.

Conduct research to obtain background information on companies or industries, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.

Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alert Senior Paralegal or attorney regarding potential process delays or problems.

Qualifications

2+ years of U.S. corporate immigration experience.

Bachelor’s Degree with 1‑year law‑related experience under a licensed attorney; or PL certificate from an ABA‑approved program.

Comfortable and able to thrive in an extremely high‑volume environment.

Demonstrates sound judgment.

Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work of others.

Superior client service skills.

Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload, and other assigned tasks (e.g., projects, company management responsibilities).

Ability to meet deadlines and goals.

Proficiency in MS Office, scanning/copying; quick learner to navigate proprietary software.

Working Conditions

Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.

Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering, and using the telephone.

Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Regular and on‑time attendance required.

Must be able to prioritize, schedule, and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.

A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required.

Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.

Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft and motor vehicle within the region and to other locations as required.

Salary and Benefits In accordance with Massachusetts Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this position in Massachusetts is between $72,200 and $76,700. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job‑related factors as permitted by law.
