Factory Automation Solutions & Technology Leader (North America) Role Overview The Factory Automation Solutions & Technology Leader is a key role within North America, responsible for shaping and executing the global product and solutions strategy across Factory Automation, with strong interfaces to Linear Motion Technology, Assembly Technology, and Automation & Electrification. This role leads leaders across multiple North American locations and partners closely with global and regional Business Areas to co-create profitable, customer-centric solutions aligned with the company’s short-, mid-, and long-term strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is a highly technical leader with deep factory automation expertise, a strong strategic mindset, and a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing leadership teams. This role requires balancing innovation with execution, customer collaboration with profitability, and global alignment with regional accountability. Key Responsibilities Strategy, Portfolio & Growth With strong global alignment, drive and evolve the regional product and solutions portfolio to enable substantial and sustainable growth. Define and execute product and technology roadmaps, including platform products, custom subassemblies, standardized solutions, and preferred building sets aligned to market needs. Shape the future of factory automation by co-developing technologies and solutions directly with customers, ensuring differentiation and value creation. Ensure all solutions are commercially viable, scalable, and aligned with business area strategies and financial targets. Customer Innovation & Collaboration Establish and further develop Customer Innovation Centers to accelerate co-creation and solution validation. Create strong collaboration models between Sales, Application Management, and R&D, ensuring seamless translation of customer needs into technical solutions. Act as a trusted technical and strategic partner to internal and external stakeholders, jointly identifying opportunities and solving complex customer challenges. Leadership & Organization Lead and develop leaders and teams across multiple North American locations, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous development. Effectively partner with colleagues within a broad international setting. Define, implement, and continuously evolve the organizational setup, roles, and competency models to support future growth and technology needs. Create an inclusive, high-performance environment that attracts, develops, and retains top technical and leadership talent. Operational Excellence & Execution Streamline, standardize, and continuously improve the engineering process landscape, with a strong focus on customer-centricity, speed, and quality. Provide technical governance and expertise for the region, ensuring alignment with global standards while enabling local flexibility. Support and drive sales growth initiatives and cost reduction programs to improve overall business performance. Innovation, Digitalization & Value Creation Drive multi-technology factory automation solutions, integrating linear technology, automation, electrification, controls, software, and robotics. Develop and expand value-added project business, including solution engineering and system-level offerings. Qualifications Experience & Expertise 8–10+ years of leadership experience in international software and hardware development organizations, with preferred experience of leading leaders. Deep experience in factory automation, including linear technology, automation systems, electrical controls, and robotics. Proven success working in matrix organizations with global interfaces and multiple stakeholders. Leadership & Mindset Transformational, results-oriented leader with a strong ability to inspire, challenge, and develop leaders and teams. Strategic thinker with a proven track record of turning vision into execution in complex, global environments. Strong business acumen with the ability to balance innovation, customer needs, and profitability. Education & Languages Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field required. Master’s degree and/or PhD strongly preferred. Fluent in English; German is a plus. Personal Attributes Passionate about factory automation, technology, and leading change. Strong communicator with the ability to influence at executive, customer, and technical levels. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity, alignment, and results.
