About the Position The Human Resources Business Partner will collaborate with internal stakeholders to administer and support a broad range of human resources processes and procedures for all company team members. This role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of personnel policies and procedures for Grand Living to ensure optimal efficiency, consistency, and organizational effectiveness.
This position serves as a key employee relations and compliance resource, providing expert guidance to leadership to ensure adherence to all applicable Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, workplace conduct, discrimination prevention, and termination practices.
The HR Business Partner plays a critical role in fostering a fair, consistent, and compliant workplace culture aligned with Grand Living standards.
Essential Functions
Provide expert guidance on performance feedback, team member development, and performance management to enhance individual and team effectiveness while ensuring compliance with employment law and company policy.
Serve as a subject matter expert in employee relations, providing consultation to leaders on complex workplace issues including misconduct, corrective action, terminations, and conflict resolution.
Conduct independent, thorough, and objective investigations into team member concerns, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace conflict, and policy violations, ensuring compliance with legal standards and documentation requirements.
Provide counsel on the development, interpretation, and practical application of employment policies and ensure alignment with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Manage and resolve employee relations matters, including coaching leaders on Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), disciplinary actions, and exit management processes.
Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC regulations, and applicable state‑specific labor requirements.
Monitor and advise on risk mitigation strategies related to employee relations and HR compliance matters.
Attend and represent the organization at unemployment hearings, providing documentation and testimony as needed.
Oversee and support onboarding functions and provide guidance to community leaders involved in onboarding, including background checks (FCRA and ALF regulations), drug testing, employment eligibility, and work authorization compliance.
Provide guidance and training to leaders on consistent application of HR policies, systems, employee relations best practices, and compliance standards.
Specific Position Knowledge, Skill, and Physical Requirements This position is typically performed in a home office setting. This role requires regular interaction with team members, residents, and families in a senior living environment.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required.
Master's degree in Human Resources Management is strongly preferred.
Five (5) years of experience in Human Resources with demonstrated experience supporting complex employee relations matters.
Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws in Florida, Texas, Iowa, Minnesota, and Colorado, HR compliance, and employee relations practices required.
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, with strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Primarily remote with travel up to 50% of the time.
