
Field Sales Representative - Knoxville, TN

Position Summary
The Field Sales Representative owns and delivers sales for their overall territory by developing relationships with Store Managers and other retail personnel to achieve directed short and long‑term performance objectives. This is achieved with a focus on delivering the overall value of retail (VOR) to include sales, displays, new items and core distribution. Activities center on wall‑to‑wall sales coverage of Nestlé items, including systemic problem solving related to out of stocks, new items pacing to shelf, share of shelf, price compliance, and promotion selling.
Responsibilities
Sell incremental volume for display and obtain maximum support for promoted products.
Sell promotional surveys for displays.
Sell additional products based on opportunities observed.
Collaborate with targeted store‑level/district‑level retail operations personnel to create and execute business reviews that drive volume.
Lead expenditure of financial resources in a fiscally responsible manner.
Ensure compliance to pricing guidelines at retail level.
Report competitive price changes and promotional support and resolve competitive pricing issues.
Identify and correct voids and ensure new items are available.
Merchandise products to obtain schematic compliance, pack out shelves, rotate products, handle unsellable product and resolve systemic problems related to out‑of‑stocks and voids.
Develop and maintain proper relations with department/store level personnel within territory in order to maximize sales results.
Communicate market insights from the retail level to management.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology or a related field preferred.
2+ years of retail sales, merchandising or retail management experience of CPG products preferred, not required.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License in good standing.
Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
Must possess strong communication (oral and written), selling and analytical skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook) and other POS systems.
Ability to analyze financial, inventory, retail conditions and/or other data to utilize appropriate selling techniques.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to meet tight deadlines.
Must be willing and able to travel.
Working Conditions
Travel Requirements: May require frequent overnight travel up to 40% of the time as well as additional business travel to meet customer and operational needs.
Driving: Regular long‑distance driving is expected to visit client sites, attend meetings, and support field activities.
Location Requirement: Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the largest cluster of stores in the assigned territory to ensure consistency and execution readiness.
Physical Demands
Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and transport promotional materials or product samples weighing up to 55 lbs.
Pushing/Pulling/Bending: May be required to set up displays or move carts during customer visits or events.
Standing/Walking: Extended periods of standing and walking are common during store visits, trade shows, and fieldwork.
