Purpose:

The Jewish Board’s Marketing & Communications Department creates a positive public perception of our mental health and social service programs, targeting clients, donors, employees, volunteers, and the media to help New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds access the support they need.

Position Overview The Jewish Services Marketing Specialist supports the Jewish Community Services division by developing print and digital materials that educate and activate prospective and current clients across the diverse denominations of the Jewish community. The role involves crafting marketing content for a variety of mental‑health programs—such as teen outreach, specialty clinics, substance‑abuse recovery services, crisis services, bereavement groups, and domestic‑violence support—reporting on outcomes, and refining campaign effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Develop effective print and digital collateral, including flyers, one‑sheets, resource guides, newspaper ads, web banners, and newsletters.

Create social media posts to promote programs and build an engaged community.

Maintain Jewish‑community‑focused content on external and internal digital properties.

Collaborate with external partners on shared campaigns and cross‑promotional initiatives.

Track engagement and performance metrics; refine strategies to improve reach.

Identify appropriate platforms to promote services, including local Jewish media.

Support general Marketing department initiatives as needed.

Monitor social media channels for messages, inquiries, and comments; direct them to the appropriate program staff.

Core Competencies

Familiarity with the marketing landscape for Jewish audiences.

Understanding of the various denominations of Jewish faith and culture, or willingness to learn.

Experience creating content for major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, BlueSky, Snapchat).

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere) and WordPress.

Well‑developed writing and editing skills.

Teamwork and collegiality across Marketing and Jewish Community Services teams.

Adaptability to new systems and platforms.

Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.

Comfort working with individuals who may have experienced trauma.

Sensitivity to inclusive language and diverse viewpoints.

Multilingual skills are a plus.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, art/graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.

One to four years of experience producing marketing materials.

Bilingual ability is a plus.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint).

Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

Familiarity with Mac operating environments.

Visual and Manual Dexterity

Ability to read paper and electronic documents and develop marketing materials using computer programs.

Work Environment & Physical Effort

Work environment poses no physical risk.

Requires sitting 90% of the time and standing 10% of the time.

Occasional tasks include setting up equipment and event signage.
