Bloomberg News is looking for a versatile and energetic editor to join its commodities and energy group in the Americas. From breaking news on corporate mergers to major moves in global commodity markets to the latest pledges to curb carbon emissions, Bloomberg's coverage in this area is broad, fast‑paced and deeply reported. We need someone who can work closely with reporters on tight deadlines to cut through industry jargon and explain important and complex ideas to a global audience.

Location: Houston, New York, Washington D.C., or Chicago. Business Area: News and Media. Ref # 10050302.

Responsibilities and Expectations

Produce crisp and concise edits that resonate with a wide audience—from our most sophisticated terminal users to our broader online readers.

Quickly learn about a wide variety of subjects, deepening your own knowledge of energy/commodity companies and markets so you can effectively guide reporters.

Move fast, be accurate, and think ahead. Own the biggest stories from the critical first 15 minutes of breaking news all the way to in‑depth features and analysis.

Collaborate with colleagues across teams, bureaus, and continents to break news and give a global perspective to our audience.

Communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and develop good relationships with reporters and managers in the group.

Qualifications

Several years of experience in business or economic news reporting in a real‑time environment, ideally with good knowledge of the energy and commodity markets.

Strong writing skills and a creative sensibility.

Good people skills and a willingness to collaborate across the organization.

A sense of urgency and an understanding of what our readers want.

Salary and Benefits Salary Range: 90,000 – 125,000 USD annually + benefits + bonus. This referenced range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
