Summary of Position The Senior Director, Customer Insights and Analytics, is responsible for leading the development and successful execution of market research by selecting appropriate methodologies for the global business development of pemvidutide for the treatment of MASH (Phase 3), Alcohol Use Disorder (Phase 2), and Alcoholic Liver Disease (Phase 2). The individual will identify and address key business questions and provide actionable insights to support decision‑making in the pre‑launch, launch, and post‑launch phases for this first commercial asset at Altimmune. The role will collaborate cross‑functionally with Marketing, Market Access, Competitive Intelligence, Clinical Development, and Finance to align market research assumptions and methodologies and ensure insights are integrated into strategic planning and decision‑making. The role will oversee the development of market research plans, budgets, and implementation timelines, and will report to the Chief Commercial Officer. Depending upon location, this role will be hybrid or remote and will require some travel as business needs dictate.
Essential Functions
Lead the development and execution of market research plans for the development of pemvidutide for the treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction‑Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), and Alcohol‑Related Liver Disease (ALD)
Conduct primary and secondary research to support business objectives, both pre‑launch and post‑launch, including fielding demand forecasting studies and providing inputs into forecast models
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the MASH and AUD/ALD markets, including key competitors, market dynamics, and customer needs
Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure that market research projects are completed on time and within budget
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in market research and incorporate them into the market research strategy as appropriate
Analyze and synthesize market research data to provide insights and recommendations to cross‑functional teams, including marketing, analytics, medical affairs, and clinical functions
Ensure that market research insights are integrated into strategic planning and decision‑making processes
Effectively partner and collaborate with global commercial cross‑functional partners to address critical business questions and ensure alignment on market research assumptions
Able to develop market‑moving insights based on a thorough understanding of market dynamics, secondary data, and rigorous research‑driven insights
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and ensure effective communication of high‑quality results, deliverables, and insights
Engage senior leadership effectively with strategic conversations and present research insights effectively in a format that helps stakeholders make informed decisions that impact patient care in a meaningful way
Job Requirements (Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes)
A BA or BS required in a related field such as Business, Economics, or Life Sciences (an advanced degree, such as MBA, preferred but not required)
10+ years of experience in market research within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, showing increasing responsibility and growth; experience in hepatic diseases like MASH strongly preferred; related experience in diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular disease, or relevant therapies. Addiction medicine is also considered beneficial, but not required.
Pre‑launch and launch experience required, including development of KPIs and tracking reports
Ability to build out, hire, and manage appropriate staff as business needs evolve
Working knowledge and understanding of secondary data and its nuances as pertinent to the market, including Real‑World Evidence data, chart pulls, etc., for mining purposes to track competitive uptake, trends, and satisfaction or gaps in the evolving landscape
Experience in various market research approaches and techniques (qual/quant), and preferred market research software experience
The ability to collaborate with a team and cross‑functional partners, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are essential
The ability to think strategically and provide insights to support decision‑making is critical
A strong understanding of the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including market trends and regulatory requirements, is necessary
The ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities is important, as well as the ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
