Overview We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of our Aviation Hangar Door product line. This role is primarily responsible for developing comprehensive cost models, preparing financially sound quotations, configuring engineered door solutions, and estimating installation and labor requirements, with extensive use of Excel‑based pricing tools, our ERP system and coordination with sales, engineering and operations team members.
The Technical Sales Engineer serves as the technical, financial, and installation‑cost backbone of the quoting process, translating customer requirements into accurately configured, well‑documented aviation door solutions while ensuring pricing integrity, margin discipline, and clear commercial and installation assumptions.

Responsibilities
Review, understand, and interpret customer‑supplied architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and site information to determine detailed product, installation, and labor scope
Generate formal budgets and quotations, including material costs, installation and labor estimates, cost breakdowns, contribution margin analysis, scope descriptions, inclusions, exclusions, and commercial assumptions
Develop, maintain, and analyze cost models using Excel and ERP‑based tools, incorporating material, labor, equipment, freight, overhead, market forecasts and other risk factors to support accurate and competitive quotations
Estimate installation labor requirements, including labor requirements, equipment needs, travel, site conditions, and schedule constraints
Apply accounting and cost‑analysis principles to validate pricing logic, assess installation and labor risk, and identify margin exposure or optimization opportunities
Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Installation Services, Finance, and Operations to validate configurations, pricing accuracy, labor assumptions, manufacturability, and lead times
Provide technical, commercial, and installation‑related support to Sales Teams and customers throughout the application and quoting process, including value engineering, cost optimization, and labor‑reduction recommendations
Ensure clear and complete documentation of product scope, installation scope, assumptions, configurations, and pricing logic to support clean handoff to order execution, project management, and installation teams
Create and maintain application‑level documentation such as specifications, product data sheets, configuration guidelines, and standard installation and labor assumptions
Support R&D and product development initiatives by contributing application knowledge, cost modeling insight, installation feedback, and market‑driven input
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, estimating, pricing, or technical sales support
Strong proficiency in Excel, including pricing models, cost analysis, and scenario evaluation
Experience working within an ERP system for quoting, configuration, costing, or order processing
Customer‑facing experience with strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple quotes and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Additional Skills / Attributes
Strong attention to detail and ownership of work output
Ability to work independently while collaborating cross‑functionally
Experience supporting engineered‑to‑order or custom products is a plus
Familiarity with aviation, large door systems, complex machinery or building products preferred
CADD or FEA experience is a plus but not required
