Tax Manager / Senior Tax Associate – Asset Management
A leading global asset management firm is seeking a highly motivated tax professional to join its Corporate Tax team. This role will play an important part in supporting the firm’s tax accounting, compliance coordination, and financial reporting processes. The position offers exposure to complex partnership structures and corporate entities within a sophisticated asset management platform.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge, experience working with investment management structures, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external tax advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions and financial statement disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP tax accounting standards.
Perform tax calculations and maintain supporting schedules for multi-jurisdictional tax obligations, including state and local taxes impacting partnership and corporate entities.
Record and reconcile tax-related journal entries as part of the monthly and quarterly close process.
Assist in preparing estimated tax payments and extension calculations for both corporate and partnership entities.
Oversee the preparation and submission of certain indirect or gross receipts-based tax filings, including tracking related payments and deadlines.
Maintain and reconcile detailed schedules supporting deferred tax positions, tax accruals, and other balance sheet tax accounts.
Compile financial and operational data required by external tax advisors to facilitate the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Participate in the review of partner allocation calculations and Schedule K-1 reporting prepared by external service providers.
Calculate and coordinate tax distributions associated with internal equity and compensation programs.
Work closely with external tax advisors to manage tax compliance calendars, filing status tracking, and tax payment logistics.
Assist with responding to tax authority inquiries, notices, and audits by gathering documentation and coordinating responses.
Contribute to tax-related analytics, process improvements, and ad hoc initiatives supporting the broader finance and tax teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or EA designation preferred.
Approximately 5–7 years of professional tax experience, ideally including time at a Big Four or similar public accounting firm.
Prior exposure to investment management or alternative asset management tax structures is required.
Working knowledge of partnership taxation and corporate tax rules, including familiarity with federal and state filing requirements.
Experience supporting tax reporting for investment entities, partnerships, or flow-through structures is strongly preferred.
Understanding of tax provision processes and U.S. GAAP tax accounting concepts.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large datasets and develop structured tax schedules.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining well-documented workpapers.
Effective communicator capable of coordinating with external advisors, finance teams, and operational stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Intellectual curiosity and interest in building expertise across multiple areas of tax and asset management operations.
