Benefits Specialist – Chicago or Houston Position: Benefits Specialist at EXP.

Responsibilities

Serve as the benefits subject matter expert and primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and issues.

Analyze benefits data and trends to make informed recommendations for improvements.

Conduct regular audits of benefits programs to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.

Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.

Interpret FMLA, ADA, and state leave implications related to leaves of absence and disabilities.

Ensure compliance with and administer COBRA and ACA requirements.

Maintain the benefit administration system, conduct system audits, and ensure proper delivery of benefit information to providers.

Maintain the benefit administration system’s file feed process with benefit vendors, resolving any issues.

Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA, and Workers’ Compensation.

Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees regarding enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts.

Coordinate the open enrollment process, including configuration of the benefit administration system, testing, communications, assisting employees with enrollment questions, and post-enrollment cleanup/analytics.

Assist with new-hire orientations.

Administer various programs such as tuition/training reimbursement and wellness allowance.

Provide necessary reports as requested.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in HR or related field, or equivalent experience and training.

Two to five years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.

Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field of study.

HRIS knowledge, including Oracle and bswift.

Certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or CEBS.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Compensation The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $85,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
