Job Summary
The Ivera Group is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Building Consultant based in New York to support a variety of construction and insurance-related projects. This role requires strong hands‑on construction experience, along with a minimum of five years of insurance industry experience and at least five years of Xactimate writing expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating building-related claims, preparing accurate estimates, and contributing to high‑quality project outcomes. This position involves light travel as needed and offers a competitive salary based on experience.
Responsibilities
Conduct on-site inspections and evaluations of residential and commercial properties to assess damage, scope of loss, and overall building conditions
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates using Xactimate, ensuring all reports align with industry standards and insurance carrier requirements
Analyze construction methods, materials, and costs to support claim evaluations and provide expert consulting services
Collaborate with clients, carriers, and internal teams to communicate findings, provide updates, and support project resolution
Travel within New York and surrounding areas as needed to perform site visits, client meetings, and inspections
Review and interpret policy coverage in relation to building damage and repair recommendations
Maintain thorough documentation, including reports, photographs, and supporting materials, to ensure accuracy and defensibility of findings
Requirements
Must reside in New York
Strong construction background required
Minimum 5+ years of insurance-related experience
Minimum 5+ years of Xactimate writing experience
