Job Title:

PCC Cooking Class Assistant

Assist instructors with classroom set‑up, ingredient preparation, and supporting students during PCC Cooking Classes Kids’ and Teens’ Camps. Work will begin when classes start on June 22nd and run through the end of August.

Responsibilities

Assist instructors with classroom setup and ingredient preparation; shop for class ingredients at PCC Community Markets when needed.

Provide excellent, professional customer service to both external and internal customers.

Assist, support, and supervise PCC Cooking Classes Kids’ Camp attendees during class.

Support the instructor with classroom set‑up, food prep, serving, washing dishes, and clean‑up.

Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with the instructor and fellow assistants.

Follow safe food‑handling procedures.

Ensure the classroom is properly cleaned and communicate classroom issues to the Co‑op Chef.

Work consistently at a light physical work level; may be asked to work on occasion at a medium or heavy physical work level (sitting, walking, reaching, grasping; standing on feet throughout shift).

Qualifications and Skills

Available to work Monday through Friday throughout the summer camp season.

Available for a minimum of 8 of 10 weeks of the summer camp season.

Demonstrated excellent, professional customer service skills.

Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced classroom setting.

Experience working with school‑age children (ages 8 to 16).

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to meet physical requirements of standing, twisting, bending, repetitive motion, and lifting up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.

Available weekday mornings and afternoons.

Reliable transportation and ability to travel to PCC locations.

Additional Details

Reports to: Co‑op Chef.

Seasonal role, June to September.

Offer contingent on completion of a background check.

Hours: 24 hours weekly on average.

Work Environment Work occurs in an office, a variety of off‑site environments and in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer. Depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and/or chemicals. Compensation Starting Wage: $17.13/hour
